My Review:
I am a big fan of J.D. Hollyfield’s particular brand of clever and amusing snark. In my opinion, she is the ruling Sassy Scribe of Snark. I am also a big fan of her tendency to employ fractured and at least moderately damaged main characters that are not always lovable, yet they are so endearingly flawed I can’t help but care for them. Creed and Kasey fit this mold, and then some. Creed was Kasey’s ex-brother-in-law, and an aloof and detached asshole/sex god, although by the conclusion he claimed to be a “reformed asshole,” however, I would have considered him to have still been a work in progress. The title of Creed’s Expectations refers to his specific and “peculiar” ideas of the type of friendship he expected to have with Kasey. Kasey was a hot mess, immature, clumsy, naïve, eager to please, and obsessed with Lucky Charms – not jewelry, the marshmallow cereal. Their story was highly erotic, salacious, and molten lava hot.
