St. Martin's Press

Love, betrayal, and sweet revenge--life in Cottonbloom is about to get a whole lot hotter . . .

Sutton Mize is known for lavishing attention on the customers who flock to her boutique on the wealthy side of her Mississippi town. So when she finds a lace thong in her fiance's classic cherry-red Camaro, she knows just who she sold it to: her own best friend. In an instant, Sutton's whole world goes up in flames. . .

Wyatt Abbott has harbored a crush on Sutton since he was a young kid from the other side of the tracks. He witnessed Sutton's shocking discovery in the Camaro at his family-owned garage--and it made him angry. What kind of man could take lovely, gorgeous Sutton for granted? But then Sutton comes up with an idea: Why not give her betrothed a taste of his own medicine and pretend that she's got a lover of her own? Wyatt is more than happy to play the hot-and-heavy boyfriend. But what begins as a fictional affair soon develops into something more real, and more passionate, than either Sutton or Wyatt could have imagined. Could it be that true love has been waiting under the hood all along?

The advantage of being related to half the parish means that I have plenty of people to call on if I need help. Of course, the disadvantage is my dating pool is drastically smaller. Unless I aspire to become a redneck joke.

Hyacinth could spout scripture from one side of her mouth while tippling moonshine with the other.

The gossip about her and Wyatt had legs like a Louisiana jackrabbit.

He might not be invited to the governor’s mansion anytime soon, but Hyacinth and Hazel had taken it upon themselves to domesticate them after a fashion. He knew enough not to fart in public or eat with his fingers.

He tensed while the woman’s gaze traveled the length of his body down to his black boots, not in a sexual way but rather like she was sizing him like a female praying mantis before she devoured her mate.

My Review:

Despite this being book number four in the series, Leave The Night On was my first trip to Cottonbloom, and I could kick myself for my lax in awareness.  I adored this charming and cleverly amusing story from beginning to end.  The main characters were endearing, nuanced, and absolutely adorable as a couple despite their inauspicious beginning.  Written from a dual POV, the storyline was engaging, humorous, easy to follow, and well-plotted.  The main protagonists were a blue-collar mechanic named Wyatt from the “swamp rat” side of town and a Junior Leaguer Judge’s daughter named Sutton, who happened to have been Wyatt’s childhood crush.   The morning she pulled into his garage lead to a comical discovery that was life altering although initially devastating for Sutton.  I savored the comfortable and easy flow to the writing style as well as the quirky characters and their colorful phrases.  I want to go backward and read all the previous installments as well as every book this talented wordsmith has and will ever produce.  Laura Trentham has a new fangirl.

Roman would track him down and rip his balls off through his spine.

“NO!” We all say in unison, knowing the story about Roman and his attempt at stripping for Andie when he knocked over the billions of candles he had lit, setting the rug on fire, and almost burning his junk off by trying to put it out. The mental picture of his privates practically on fire caused me sleep issues for months.

You’re under my control, Lincoln Holloway. I’m woman-handling you.

My Review:

Thieves 2 Lovers may just be my favorite of the bunch but the entire 2 Lovers series has been wicked good fun, I feel a bit misty and may go into mourning with the knowledge the series is now complete, no more, end of the line, kaput.  But what an amusing and adventurous ride it was!  I’ll never be able to look spaghetti filled plates without thinking of Linc and Reagan and experiencing an increase in heart rate.  I delighted in this lecherous and lusty group of individuals and adored each and every one of them, but I am amazed they managed to get any work done at all.  Between the lascivious sensual scenes and the dirty talking and salacious inner musings; the clever storyline was heaving with hilarious and filthy banter, expletive filled dialogue, and a bit of intrigue, danger, a heart squeezing health scare, and problematic temper flares and family issues. The Garden of Thievery where they creatively displayed the expensive personal items they had pilfered from her older brother was truly ingenious.  I have worshiped at the altar of J.D. Hollyfield for some time now and realize I have actually been remiss in my adulation; it appears a redesign of my shrine to smut is in order to include the naughty and creative mastermind known as K. Webster.  I see an afternoon of one-clicking added to my schedule.

Book Review: Simply Crazy by ‪Jenn Hype

Simply Crazy

by ‪Jenn Hype

Forget apps, websites and singles events - clearly the best way to meet a guy is to move in next door, accidentally assault him and then demand a job at his company.

If that kind of charm doesn’t totally knock him off his feet, the next step is to build an army. If possible, try to recruit those closest to the target, such as his mom, sisters and closest friends. Sure, it sounds extreme and maybe a little bit crazy, but I’ve always subscribed to the old adage “No one worth having comes willingly.” Okay, I switched out some words there, but you get the point.

Caution: Even the most foolproof plans can have hiccups along the way. I’ve taken the liberty of compiling a list of things you should watch out for: Crazy ex-boyfriends who pop up out of nowhere like an evil jack-in-the box; Women who think a strategic nip slip is effective at landing a boyfriend; Co-workers who think it’s hilarious to prank you at work and then upload the videos to social media.

Still have doubts? No worries. Let this professional show you how it’s done.

Favorite Quotes:

Screw politeness. Life was too short to miss an opportunity to see CJ get spanked by his mom. “No, no, no,” I spoke up. “He doesn’t need to apologize. I’d much rather see him get a whoopin’.”

Don’t watch; you’ll want to lecture me about it and drinking coffee without a bucket full of sugar just isn’t possible for me. Which means I’ll end up just giving it up out of fear that you’ll find out one day and threaten to spank me in front of everyone. I don’t particularly like living my life in fear, or without caffeine. The combination makes for a dangerous level of exhaustion.

I’m not vain, but it’s a sad day when you find your first gray hair. And the worst part is it wasn’t on my head.

Do you know if all those rumors about prison are true? I was hoping he’d wind up being the bottom bitch of some burly guy named Theo who used to be a motorcycle gang leader.

Pity that the beautiful ones always seemed to have the ugliest personalities. The one before me was probably their evil queen.

You have to resort to raising your fist to a woman just to keep her around. Sad. Why is that, exactly? I’d assume it goes deeper than being a bad conversationalist or rancid morning breath.

My Review:

Simply Crazy was a devilishly fun read.  I smirked and giggled-snorted my way through this delightful tale.  Written from a dual POV of a buttoned up returned vet who had not returned whole by any means, although he was slowly falling for his filterless and overbearing firecracker of a neighbor, a gal with a good heart and snarky tongue who couldn’t hold back a thought for any amount of money.  Packed with clever humor, amusing inner musings, insightful observations, quirky and compelling characters, several threads of intrigue, and a few bits of delectable steamy goodness; I adored this amusing book start to finish.  I was ecstatic to note this was the beginning of a new series; hopefully, there are additional mischievous tales already in the works.

Did you get lost again, you live down the hall.”
“No, I brought you some fries.”
“You brought me fries?”
“Truffle fries actually. Sarah said you kind of moaned when she mentioned my truffle fries earlier.”
“She said I moaned about you?’
“About my fries. So, I brought them and myself to your door.”
“Well come on in then, although I don’t recall moaning.” She absolutely did, but he didn’t need to know that.
“Maybe you smiled. I’d rather make you moan than smile, but I’ll take either.”
“And I’ll take the fries.” She held out her hand so he could pass them over.
She lifted one from the bag and took a bite of the crunchy salty goodness and then she really did moan. “Okay mission accomplished, you made me moan, you can leave happy now.”

Cover Reveal: A Change of View - The Northern Lights Collection #2 by Freya Barker

Title: A Change of View
Series: The Northern Lights Collection
Author: Freya Barker
Genre: Romantic Suspense Standalone
Release Date: August 16, 2017
Cover Designer: Rebel Edit & Design

What if one morning you look in the mirror and no longer recognize the person looking back?

When Leelo can no longer identify herself by the roles that once defined her, it's both terrifying and liberating. Oh, she feels the loss, the grief, and then the anger, but when she inherits property up north, she jumps at the promise of freedom and independence.

Yet not everyone in her new community is what they seem, starting with the surly mountain man down the road.

As owner of the local fishing lodge, Roar is content with his everyday life. And the older he gets, the less he appreciates change. So when a blue-haired, tattooed ‘city girl’ moves into the old motel, shaking up his daily routine, he’s none too pleased.

Still, something about the woman’s easy smile and almost reckless grit has him step up as her keeper.

Freya Barker inspires with her stories about 'real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy. She is the author of the Cedar Tree Series and the Portland, ME, novels.

Freya is the recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None,” and is a finalist for the 2016 Kindle Book Awards for “From Dust”. She currently has two complete series and three anthologies published, and is working on two new series; La Plata County FBI—ROCK POINT, and Northern Lights. She continues to spin story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!
