My Review:
Acquisition was a busy and sensual story of romantic suspense featuring dueling CEOs. Antonio and Lauren were corporate competitors gearing up for a hostile takeover, which was botched. But before they knew each other across the table in the boardroom, they had met by chance in a bar while using the aliases of Lou and Elizabeth. Sizzle and snap – my Kindle actually seemed to be sweating, although that may have been from being held in my hot little hand as Lou and Elizabeth had death-defying nuclear reactor level sexual chemistry as they repeatedly scorched the sheets during their encounter. Holy moly!
While Lou and Elizabeth left singe marks on the ceiling, being Lauren and Antonio was far less satisfying. Antonio was rich, powerful, and cryptic, and used to getting what he wanted and he had become quite captivated with the prickly Lauren - who just wasn’t having it. Antonio being a greedy and successful corporate raider, wanted both Lauren and her company, and doggedly pursued both. He offered Lauren a tempting and salacious deal; the name of the mole in her organization in exchange for a weekend of debauchery… What to do, what to do?
Before détente could be achieved a heinous cliffhanger was thrown, although I was more or less expecting one since the book was labeled as a duet, but still, gah! I despise them! ;( So I am on the hook and waiting for Merger – Takeover Duet #2, which sounds promising for a positive end result and is scheduled for release in December. An early Christmas gift from the delightfully bawdy Chelle Bliss.
