A Thrilling Psychological Exploration

As arousing as 50 Shades, twisted as Gone Girl, and tortured as Wuthering Heights.

Immensely erotic and psychologically captivating, The Sleeping Serpent is the compelling story of a woman’s obsession with a spellbinding guru and the struggle to reclaim her life. At its heart, it is a painfully beautiful exposition of unconditional love that causes us to question what we truly want.

Luna Saint Claire has a loving husband and an enviable career as a Hollywood costume designer. Still, something is gnawing at her. Bored with her conventional and circumscribed existence, she feels herself becoming invisible. When she meets Nico Romero, a charismatic yoga guru, his attentions awaken her passions and desires. Dangerous, but not in a way that frightens her, he makes her feel as if anything is possible. Infatuated, she becomes entangled in Nico’s life as he uses his mesmerizing sexuality to manipulate everyone around him in his pursuit of women, wealth, and celebrity.

Whether by free will or fate, Luna’s encounter with Nico provokes a storm that shatters her perceptions of identity, duty, morality, and self-worth. The storm didn’t blow in from the outside. She was the storm. Its turbulence within her, forcing her to confront the darkness, uncovers her secrets and her pain.

Review:

There is a saying "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." I think this is the perfect sentence to explain everything about this book. Nico seemed like the perfect guy, he seemed like the perfect character. Until he wasn't.

The great thing about this book is the author doesn't throw you in head first into all the problems. Instead, she puts you in a pot of cool water and slowly starts to raise the temperature until you are desperate to get away. But no matter how hard you try, you can't escape, because you are too buried in between the pages of the book. HAHA!  That is a good explanation of how the characters must feel.

I am speechless and was blown away by this book. How can I explain to you how I felt about this book when I have mixed feelings?

When I started this book, I loved Luna and Nico's relationship. Even when it seemed a bit intimate between the two of them. The more the story progressed, and the more I read about the other women, I had like this bad feeling surrounding Nico. I felt like things wouldn't end well, as Nico got worse. I started to dislike that I liked him in the first place. I was mad at the women characters for giving into him, but I know and understand how hard it is to say no to someone you love.

I feel like one of the characters in the book, torn apart into a million pieces. I don't know if I want to rate this book 4 or 5 stars. The reason I want to give it 4 stars is because, even though I understood, I kinda got upset there was so many characters. I usually stay away from the books that have this many. But I didn't factor it in until it was too late and I was already captured into the story. I want to give it five stars because I loved this book. Even if it left me emotionally drained at the end.

I am going to give this book 5 stars, because of the story. It really is one that can make you think, make you realize that someone is capable of this. I think that whether we admit it or not, some people do act like Nico. They can be charming and pull you in and get you to do things for them. Then they take you for granted and throw you aside. Even if it is not as extreme as this character, I am sure if you think back you might know someone that has pulled this stunt on you.

Ms. Luna Saint Claire it was a honor to read your book, Thank you for giving me the chance.
