Unaware of the truth, he can’t foresee how radically his life will be altered by his introduction to Prim Aurora, a businesswoman whose past is shrouded in mystery. Each having extremely different and unusual upbringings, neither Sean nor Prim ever intend to become seriously involved in any romantic relationship. Prim’s inexplicable fears, Sean’s need to be in control, and the appearance of a dead body in the Aurora family home will test the passion and love between them. As their relationship is jeopardized by past events and a killer still on the loose, their determination and commitment to their dream of a life spent together is threatened. Only elusive revelations regarding the secrets in Prim’s past and the circumstances relating to the miracle surrounding Sean’s birth can provide Prim and Proper with the promise of a happy future.

Quotes:
"Kenny and I may be slow, but we’re not stupid."
"She kissed him and murmured, 'I love this dress, and
I’m glad you love it too. But it’s a
dress. If it gets destroyed because of
what we do while I’m wearing it, then I won’t regret it'.”
"Mom and Dad were ready to call someone with
bloodhounds to look for you. There were
convinced that bloodhounds were the only way we’d find you. I guess they’ve watched a lot of crime shows
as well as family shows and sitcoms."
"No one should have to go through life feeling
inadequate because of what she was denied by birth or circumstance."
"I’m a pretty pixie.
Nobody is going to break my wings."

Review:
This book is not at all what I expected, it is a
conundrum. It is considerably detailed,
yet it does so succinctly. It is written
in a simple and straightforward manner, yet is quite profound and moved me to
tears several times. It started off
rather slow and I wondered if I had stumbled upon a Christian Romance more
suited to my mother’s Sunday School book club… but then it wasn’t. Despite the
slow start, the last half of the book was incredibly eventful. It was a gentle and sweet love story with an
innocent and naïve virgin as a main character, yet there was also suspense, rape,
violence, mental health and developmental issues, murder, robbery, deception, child
abuse and neglect, alcoholism, generations of secrets, religious zealots, physical
altercations, deaths, and considerable oddity.
The small-town characters are charmingly quirky and odd, some were more disturbingly
so. Two are developmentally delayed and
several are mentally unstable. While I
am typically averse to frequent religious tilting and recitations, I didn’t
mind it as much in this tale. I wasn’t
sure who was going to blow their lid first, and it wasn’t who I expected at
all. And despite one characters aversion
to touch and fearfulness of anything sexual, the sensual scenes were deliciously
steamy and stole my breath. Like I said,
a conundrum… and I loved it.
