Favorite Quotes:

‘He still hasn’t seen the stripper pole you put in the basement?’  I question. ‘No. He doesn’t go into my office. We established it’s my space and I don’t want to get him excited until I perfect the routine.’  She pouts.

Avery, please. I’m sober because I’m pregnant. In a few months all the ball bitches will leave their home on Whore Island and come after my man when I’m as big as a house and I need something to whisper in his ear.

I hand Caden my phone. ‘Don’t answer it. Unless it’s the Pope offering me an extra day of sainthood for that conversation.’

‘Lord, he needs sedatives.’  Emberlee sighs. ‘At least with that vixen he won’t need Viagra.’

I wasn’t waiting for the one because you were the one… You’ll be the better half of me until the day I die.

My Review:

Changing Fate had me smirking, snorting and barking with glee at the irreverent humor, salacious wit, clever banter, erotic sensual scenes, and an entertaining storyline packed with naughty fun among the life altering changes of graduations, babies, weddings, moves, and new careers.  I cherished my time with this quirky, loud, uninhibited, and outrageous grouping of potty-mouthed friends.  I gasped and held my breath more than a few times but sighed contentedly at reaching that oh so satisfying HEA where everyone’s dreams really did come true, and then some.  I enjoyed this highly amusing and smoking hot series from beginning to end.

Book Review: Fighting Fate (Endgame Series #4) by Leigh Ann Lunsford

Fighting Fate
 (Endgame Series #4)
by Leigh Ann Lunsford

Avery Michaels is an artist. She’s mastered the art of lying. Hiding. Sneaking around with the one boy she loves. Her role in the lives of her friends has always been the dependable one, level headed one . . . the one to turn to in times of trouble. A role she takes seriously— enough to demand her relationship stay in the shadows, so it won’t interfere with the lives of her friends and their needs.

Juggling college and a love nobody is aware of— is becoming more than she can handle. Just as the truth is set to be exposed, consequences be damned, it’s derailed and blown to hell.

Now, without the love that grounded her, fractured friendships, and an opportunity of a lifetime— will she take it or fight for her endgame? Her fate is in the hands of this one decision . . . she needs to choose wisely.

Favorite Quotes:

It’s just something I don’t want to focus on. I don’t have my head stuck in the sand, but if you stop looking at the beauty in things, all you’ll see is the ugly in everything and I don’t want that darkness. It’s something I don’t think I could escape from.

Roses are red. Violets are blue. I have five fingers. This middle one is for you.

I’m sure her dowry will bankrupt me, but at least I’ll get to live in peace when I offload this troublemaker.

Caden, she was awful. I was waiting for her head to spin and green vomit to spew. I think she broke a few fingers… And when I mentioned it, her words . . . and I quote ‘Quit bitching about a few fingers. My vagina is breaking.’ Can we agree to be kidless?

She’s stubborn . . . but I’m a jackass. I have longevity she hasn’t had the pleasure of meeting.

My Review:

I smirked and giggled-snorted through much of this highly entertaining, sizzlingly sensual, and snarkily amusing new-adult story.   Fighting Fate has become my favorite installment to date.  All the female characters in the Endgame series were written as feisty, stubborn, and quick-witted smart asses, and Avery was no exception.  They have each had their drama queen and heartbreak moments, although I had always assumed Avery to be rather timid and more eager to please than the rest.  But… Avery had a secret, she had always been a bit mysterious and not forthcoming, but – wow – I had no idea she was so deeply clandestine.   It was silly really that she had labored over keeping this secret, but she had successfully and covertly been purposely deceitful about her liaison for several years.

I enjoyed the raucous humor, lascivious banter, and witty quips the friends and families tossed at each other, as well as the continued storyline and shared timeline from previous installments.  But that ending had me stamping my little foot and muttering foul curses at this sly and clever word minx of an author – she left me hanging with a heinous cliffhanger.  I am outraged, yet hopelessly addicted.  I am on the hook, caught in her web, and must know what happens next.  I hope she is currently locked in her attic and banging out the next installment, or I may just have to purchase a little doll and some sharp pins…

And believe what they say about Texas… everything is bigger. Including the mom guilt trips. Any second she’ll sniffle, dab her eyes, and start on a tangent that includes kids leaving their lonely momma after she sacrificed all her good years, and she’ll be the only woman in history who suffered through hours of labor. I guess every other woman, who doesn’t live in the state of Texas, snaps their fingers and the stork drops a little darling off.

Cover your trout and make her shout is my motto.

Someone needs to come up with a how-to guide for dating a reformed player.

Well, welcome to adulthood my friends. This shit sucks… No wonder our parents like alcohol.   She should have worn skates, seems as she’s a ho-on-the-go.

My Review:

I am loving this delightfully funny and super steamy series of college friends learning how to navigate their way through life, love, and disappointments. And I adore these characters, so full of sass and witty snark. Mason was a star athlete and known to be major player on and off the field but changed his game once he met the feisty spitfire named Brecklynn. Their naughty and snarky banter sets a new standard for the trope and had me smirking and barking aloud.   Their sensual scenes left me gasping and in need of hydration. I will be eagerly awaiting the next couple and hoping for more of this same entertaining style of rom-com.

“I've learned the hard way that perfection is all perception.”

“Why does you mind always think the dirtiest thoughts? If this was pre-historic times I'd call you Hornyasaurus.”

“If this is a shell of your former self, I'm going to have to say I'm terrified to see you in full force.”

“Candy is not something to joke about. You can't take the choice of good candy and bad candy lightly. It's a staple in the diet.”

“My snark is a natural talent. One can try to recreate it, but they will fail. I'm the master.”

“I haven't had sex in years and I'm hornier than a blind lesbian in a fish market.”

“Me. You. Us. That's a threesome I'm down for.”

“I fell in love with someone who lets me rest my head on their chest just to be calmed by their heartbeat... I fell in love with someone who not only accepted but embraced my flaws yet thinks I'm perfect.”

My Review:

Jackpot! The perfect ending to this captivating and heart squeezing drama was to cap it off with a healthy dose of Ms. Lunsford's feisty humor and trademark snarky banter. In contrast to the heavier negative dynamics of conflict and struggle occurring in the earlier books which focused on the characters' angsty teen-age years, Bellissimo Rilsacio chronicles their twenties with focus on recovery, personal growth, healing, and second chances, and provides a vastly more uplifting atmosphere to the plot line. The central characters are finally maturing and slowly working through the myriad issues stockpiled in the previous books. While there was still a heaping helping of drama and heartbreak, this was well tempered with clever humor and pithy verbal sparring. I greatly enjoyed the more playful and colorful humor to their arguments, as well as their easy camaraderie as they settle and discover their stride. I found this installment to be extremely satisfying and one of Ms. Lunsford's best.
