Meet The Authors

L.J. Stock on Victoria L. James ~ What can I say about Victoria L. James? Loads actually, she’s an amazingly talented author and I had the absolute distinct pleasure of writing with her. I also call her a friend. When we first met, we bonded instantly over our love of music, Victoria tends to be as eclectic as I am with her tastes. She finds stories in lyrics and feels the moods in the melodies.
When we first started writing together, I’ll admit I was intimidated. Here is this woman with a huge passion for putting words onto paper and painting pictures so clearly that you are completely immersed in them. How was I going to keep up with that? I’m not sure I ever did, but over time we’ve built up a repertoire. We bounce off one another and bring our characters to the forefront and hope that the interactions are as real as they appear for us.
On a more personal note, Victoria is bright, smart, kind, intelligent, funny, caring and witty. She can see so much in the world around her and always has time for anyone. Victoria lives in sunny ole Yorkshire with her family and her cats - had to mention them - and can normally be found in the playground of her imagination, listening to the Foo Fighters.
~~~~~~~
Victoria L. James on L.J. Stock ~ There aren’t many people you bump into in life that you want to both work and spend your free time with. From meeting L.J. through the wonder that is the internet, we soon came to realise that we had a hell of a lot in common. Music was where our friendship truly began, but our writing partnership flourished not too far behind. I always felt like my writing was missing something, and it was only when I read L.J.’s work that I realised what exactly that was. It was missing her influence!
After spending over a year working together, day in, day out, not a moment goes by where I don’t thank the Twitter Gods for bringing this amazingly strong and talented woman into my life. She’s an inspiration, a positive force in every situation and one hell of a talented writer. To say I’m honoured that she wanted to create a new world with me is a gross understatement. I’m blown away. One day, I hope I get lucky enough to visit her in Texas, where she lives with her family and her zoo of animals, so we can write by her pool and take part in our other dream… The great Taylor Kitsch Road (stalking) Trip. Who needs a yacht in the Caribbean when we have that to look forward to, right?
Book Review: Marcus (A Natexus Novel) by Victoria L. James
Book: Marcus (A Natexus Novel)
Author: Victoria L. James
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis
Five weeks after Natalie walked out of my life, I was forced to go back to the start. Twice I’d given my heart to those who didn’t want it, leaving me alone again wondering who I was, where I was meant to be going, and what I stood for.
Loneliness became my new best friend, no matter how hard I tried to deny it. Bitterness threatened to take over and turn me into somebody I wasn’t. Nothing made me feel alive anymore. Nothing made me happy.
Until she arrived. Her. The girl no one was meant to fall in love with—especially not me. Especially not then.
We didn’t know that our time together was fleeting. Our futures were already shaped for us, weaved together by a string of events that were destined to tear us apart if we let them. I just wasn’t willing to go down without a fight this time.
Not all men give up so easily, and the scars on my heart had made me stronger. If anyone could beat the cruel hand of fate, it was me. All I had to do was believe.
In me. In her. In us.
That beautiful, unexpected, thrilling, surprise love of mine.
Favorite Quotes:
If only love came with a warning label and a list of possible side effects, maybe I’d have known what would happen to me once I let go of the second love of my life. Once made me naïve. Twice made me a fool— a feeling I wasn’t too comfortable with.
You once told me you didn’t need saving. What I didn’t realise at the time was that I did.
Love is a two-part adventure. The first step is falling. The other is staying. Now that I’ve invited you in, you’re never allowed to leave.
Johnny, however, looked like his skin was made of rubber and wax, with his extra small T-shirt showing off his helium-filled muscles, and jeans so tight I had to wonder whether his fart would pop back up into his throat if he accidentally let one rip in those things.
…you look at the whole world like it barely matters, but when you look at me, your face lights up like I’m the only thing you see.
My Review:
Victoria L. James is an outright thief, an outlaw, a bandit  - she has delivered a book that is heart stealing and breath-snatching, and I couldn’t be happier to have been robbed blind of both.   Marcus is a treasure, the book, and the character.  He is epic, indelible, the total package, the ultimate BBF.  Swoon, I want one.  Victoria L. James has a special kind of magical word voodoo, falling into her characters’ heads was immediate and effortless, yet the conjured scenarios are compelling and extraordinary; all of which requires great skill, deft handling, prodigious word prowess, and a limitless imagination.  Don’t bother reading Marcus unless you enjoy clever banter, endearing and alluring characters, emotive writing that mines every corner of your heart, amusing humor, keen insights, and a moving and engrossing tale.  I read it slowly so I could savor every word, and found a pleasurable banquet to devour in each chapter.  Sigh, I am ruined and fear that reading anything else will feel like diet food.
Meet the Author
Victoria L James is a teenage girl stuck in a thirty-something year-olds body. Living somewhere 'oop north' in England, she has had a strong passion for words and stories going as far back as she can remember, which she credits to her grandmother and her love of reading anything that was on sale and cheap from the local market stall. Never once did she think she would release a novel, though. At best, she thought her love of language and her ability to create stories in her mind would provide her with a 'get out of jail free' card whenever she messed up and her parents were mad at her during her teenage years... and when even that didn't work out, she thought she was pretty much done for.
When an opportunity presented itself for her to take a back seat from paid working life for a few years, she knew straight away that she had to try and write about a few of these worlds she'd come up with along the way, and quieten all the voices in her head without racking up a heavy psychiatry bill for the pleasure.
Wearing her heart on her sleeve and trying to lighten her friends’ and family’s lives with naff, and more often than not, badly timed, nineties jokes, she has yet to learn the art of knowing when to shut up. Which is another reason writing became a passion of hers. With pen and paper, there are no limits.
A firm believer in never quitting, with a ridiculous obsession for all things Rocky, she hopes that one day she writes a story that will inspire at least one person out there to keep on going if they're struggling. Other than that, she's just a regular old converse wearing, corona sipping, English version of Chandler Bing, who loves and adores her family more than life itself. Oh, and she also has two cats. Every writer has to mention their cats, right?
Synopsis
Six minutes after he'd vowed to love me forever and I was the happiest I'd ever been. He wasn't meant to be with me at the start of my next adventure, but the other half of my soul — the man I'd been away from for far too long — had slammed back into my life with unashamed force all over again. With one look in his eyes, I was lost to all his promises, and I couldn't find a single reason for us to spend another second apart.
Happiness became a dangerous addiction — one Alex Law was able to wrap me in with an ease no one else had ever done before. Yet no matter how high the clouds we rode upon climbed, the echoes of our pasts never seemed to be too far away.
Not all happily ever afters go the same way and ours was about to bring out sides of both of us that we never knew existed. All I could do was hold my breath and hope that whatever storms we passed through, they wouldn't be strong enough to tear us apart for a second time.
Our eternity started with a kiss. Now it was up to me to prove that forever really could last a lifetime with nobody else but him
.
That beautiful, breathtaking first love of mine.
If you’re going to go home with anyone today, avoid the girl in the background who shrieks like a cat.  Mrs. Hawkins in the apartment below you will flip her lid if that woman is keeping her awake with her howling all night long.
I couldn’t control the elation I felt at what he’d just described.  Something locked inside of me.  Something secured itself.  Something clicked and crashed into my heart…
Ours was a softly spoken love.  A not everything needs to be said out loud love.  An I can’t breathe without him kind of love.  The I need him and he needs me love.  The you appeared out of nowhere and brought me to life love.
My Review:
Victoria L. James is the Goddess of Feels; the Mistress of Words - I humbly kneel and bow to her talent, and would leave offerings of ink and paper and worship at her altar. I adored these characters and this clever author in equal measure.  While I finished the story yesterday, I have dithered in writing my review, fearing my efforts will appear paltry and meager in summarizing the deft skill and craftiness of this superbly gifted wordsmith.  As always, her storyline was engaging and relevant and the writing was simply stellar, insightful, and observant.  Her scenes were so lushly detailed - they ran smoothly and seamlessly like a movie reel across my feverish brain.  I could not read fast enough and was eager for each sentence.  The narrative was full of feels and I was right there with them… when they were happy – I was giddy; when they were upset – my throat and chest constricted with their distress.  Ms. James’s words were magically strung together to mine, stir, and incite the full gamut of emotion.  She stole my breath, grabbed and squeezed my heart - then set it off to soar.  If I develop a murmur – it will be on her.
Victoria L. James is a teenage girl stuck in a thirty-something year-old's body. A Corona and nacho appreciator with a ridiculous obsession for all things Rocky Balboa, she currently lives in Yorkshire, England with her husband and two baby boys. Having had a strong passion for words and stories going as far back as she can remember, she credits her love of literature to her Grandma Bess who taught her that you didn't need a lot of money to travel to different worlds, experience new places, and live a thousand lives.
And so Victoria's unexpected journey to writing began, one impressionable Sweet Valley High book, and tragic diary entry at a time.
Wearing her heart on her sleeve and trying to lighten life with naff, and more often than not, badly-timed, nineties jokes, she has yet to learn the art of knowing when to shut up.
A firm believer in never quitting and a champion of every underdog that exists, she dreams of being able to write forever, hoping her stories will inspire at least one person out there to keep on pushing against the tide of their own struggles. Reading is always the ultimate escape.
Seven breaths left in her chest, yet I looked back at him. He wasn’t meant to be there on the darkest night of my life, but the mysterious Alex Law continued to make a habit of showing up when I least expected him. With one look in his eyes, everything I’d ever been before him drifted away, and everything I was about to become revolved around him.
Grief threatened to ruin me no matter how hard I fought, and Alex had demons of his own to deal with, yet we found a comfort in each other’s pain. We found ourselves alone, two people becoming one. Just us. Natalie and Alex. Natexus. As long as we had each other, we thought we could make it through anything.
We didn't know there were things out there waiting to destroy us: people we couldn’t escape, fates we couldn’t outrun and regrets we couldn’t avoid. Not all love stories go the same way, and ours was about to take a turn neither one of us could have foreseen. All I could do was stand by and watch as my world fell apart for a second time.
I knew there had been life before Alex Law.
I just had to figure out if there was life after him…
That beautiful, tragic first love of mine.
