Honestly, someone should write the software engineers over at the makers of mobile devices to come up with some kind of fucking warning when you're getting hate on a viral level. Like when you open the screen, it could say, “Hey, just so you know, you should probably take a Xanax and a shot of tequila before going any further. Because what’s going on with you online today isn’t cute.”

My Review:

Turn up all the fans and air conditioning as high as possible as this one is a scorcher that had me gasping and smirking, then gasping some more. Oh! My! This New Adult Romantic Comedy will be a boon for condom sales. I am chartreuse with envy over this sweary and snarky couple’s stamina and sensual expertise as the only time my bedroom has seen my body “flushed, ears to ankles” has been during a craptastic illness with a high fever.



I adore Ms. Mabie’s clever and irreverent humor and I loved her City Limits rom/com series. Her storylines and writing were lively and fun, super-steamy, and laced with sharp wit and spicy levity. Long after finishing I am continuing to sip ice water in attempts to cool down and calm my breath, and it seems my face is still oddly sporting a naughty grin that I just can’t seem to wipe away.

It’s funny how a moment can be so big that you worry it won’t fit in your heart, but then you feel your insides swell and it finds a place.

My Review:

Smoke and Mirrors was a comfortable, pleasant, and easy read populated with adorable, endearing, quirky, and lovable characters.  The premise was realistic, easy to follow, and relevant while the characters were common, small-town, everyday working-class people, who were uncommonly good and exceptionally appealing.  I relished this sweet couple and Ms. Mabie’s engaging dual POV narrative from start to finish.  Add in a precocious, feisty, and precious four-year-old then blend it all together with wit, cunning insights, smirk-inducing levity, a sweet and steamy love story, and clever writing, and you have a delightful and entertaining book to cherish and enjoy.  I didn’t notice how ingenious the title was until I made the connection of Aaron, the male protagonist, being a fireman.  A kind, thoughtful, sweet, and sexy fireman.  I fell in love with him right away and he just kept getting better and better.  I hope Ms. Mabie continues this charming and breezy series in perpetuity; after all, she has an entire town to pick and choose from.

My Review:

All The Way was a cunningly plotted, cleverly humorous, and exceptionally well-crafted book.  The title was lifted from a specialty Waffle House order and not from a sexual encounter, as most would expect.  Don’t get me wrong - there were plenty of sizzling sensual scenes in this book, just not in the title.  M. Mabie is a gifted wordsmith with a wicked sense of humor.  I adored her endearingly flawed yet witty characters as much as I did her skillfully amusing, keenly detailed, and salaciously comical writing style.  She deftly embellishes her storyline with crafty little touches that summon sharp and highly entertaining and lively visuals.  I smirked, giggle-snorted, and gasped my way through this witty, engaging, and delightfully naughty tale.  I enjoyed spending time with these quick-witted and quirky people, but honestly, who couldn’t love a generous “too-hot” man who cooks, cleans, and makes cinnamon rolls from scratch?

Earlier that night, he'd told me my dancing looked like a frog on a hot sidewalk.  Then he'd told me he was running home to poop - but he'd be back.  We were definitely just friends.

It wasn't fair to other men how attractive he was.  An image of him shirtless, mowing my yard, came to mind.  I chalked it up to early onset panther syndrome and bent over at the hip to catch a breath that rushed through me, the image having left me winded.

She obviously didn't know what she was talking about.  A man's grill is an extension of himself.  There's a bond there.  I swear it... 'Mine isn't just any grill Sunny.  It's The Grill.  I can't just be flinging my meat around on any old burner.'

After the lawn chairs were unfolded and the card table was set up, the yard was almost redneck romantic.

My Review:

I treasured and adored every page of this refreshingly original, fun, and delightful book.  I was in dire need of a sweet and drama-llama free read and I must say I was shocked beyond belief to find just that from M. Mabie.  This was not at all what I expected from her given the constant angst, conflict, and tension found in her Wake series - although I also loved those books to pieces.  But I was beguiled, enchanted, and fell into a total swoon over Rhett and Sunny.  I often laughed aloud, barked, and chortled as I read.  Rhett was THE perfect BBF, his patience, the care he took, and the thoughtfulness and creativeness of his efforts to please Sunny were so sweet and tender that it stung my eyes.  I relished the tenderness and sweetness of their love story, the irreverent humor, snappy banter, and slyly clever observations and insights.  The writing was crisp, humorous, and unfailingly engaging. Ms. Mabie's characters were just adorable, well fleshed out, endearing, amusing, and lovable.  I hated to leave Wynne but hope and pray Ms. Mabie extends a return invitation soon.  I will save her some time and just RSVP right now.  I'm thoughtful like that...

My Review:

I can only imagine that M. Mabie is naughty fun to be around, and she has certainly brought her A-game with Anchor.  I found this book to be perfection.  After torturing her characters with an all-consuming passion and the worst of luck through the first two books, she has finally turned them into united allies and written them a fun and playful love story that is my favorite kind of book - sassy, sweet, and steamy.  The writing was crisp, smart, humorous, and sensual.  I enjoyed every word on every page and was highly entertained throughout.  I doubt I would ever tire of reading about this resilient, mischievous, and vibrant couple.  Ms. Mabie’s levity and clever wit kept me smirking, her sensual scenes had me gasping, but she squeezed my heart, stung my eyes, and stole all the breath from my lungs with the very moving letter from Casey’s mother.  All the books in this series have been exceptionally well written, but Anchor is by far my favorite.
