Genre: Dark NA Romance
Release Date: Available Now
Blyss is something the world has been trying to create since the beginning of time, the ultimate aphrodisiac, a drug used against women with one single purpose in mind ....
Julianna Oakley has just finished up her junior year at college and flies home to spend her last free summer with her father on their prestigious Georgia estate. Julianna isn't the stereotypical rich girl, a spoiled prima-donna. She's down to earth and has an independent streak a mile wide, insisting she makes her own way in this world.
Nick has been setting the stage for a long time, and sparks fly when their separate worlds collide. She is Nick's ultimate obsession, and he will stop at nothing to own her.
When Travis, Nick's right hand man, lays his eyes on the prize, all hell breaks loose. He should know Nick is playing for keeps, and while Julianna is fighting for her freedom, a lifetime full of secrets and twisted perceptions slowly unravel as Julianna gets caught in the fray.
Learning how to survive in her new world, Julianna has no choice but to play “The game of Life.” Except it's Nick's game, and his rules apply. Captivity, drugs, and submission are the cards that are dealt, and it's a losing game.
Biding her time as she waits for her rescuers, it's far from smooth sailing, because all too quickly the rules abruptly change as Nick takes matters into his own hands…
As the drama unfolds, and hesitating to interfere, Travis has everything to lose should he decide to step in, including his life.
It's opposition at its finest – freedom versus control as Nick and Julianna face the ultimate battle of wills.
While Travis has the uncanny ability to manipulate her with a single touch, Nick struggles to conquer her body, mind, and soul.
It's every man for themselves as each have their own secret agenda, including Julianna, whose plan is simple: survive.
This is Julianna’s story. She lived a normal life until she was about to turn twenty-one, and then all hell broke loose. Years of diabolical scheming unraveling at the seams, unleashing torrents of lies and deceit. The whirlwind of chaos and heartbreak will forever change the game.
Her chosen fate is one of stellar proportions, and she struggles to keep sane, trying to hold it together every step of the way. As the matrix of her concealed past unfolds to deliver the final blow, rationality and sanity begin to take on a definition and meaning of its own.
Nick thinks he’s the night in shining armor while Travis believes he will be enough to save her from herself, but does she even want to be saved?
Both men want her. Both men love her, and both men want to claim her, keeping her for themselves. But, as usual, Julianna has other plans.
My Rating:
Favorite Quotes:
Book 1 Blyss:
“You and your
GQ-worthy looks. You have every woman in
here slipping and sliding all over their own drool.”
“This can’t be
real; there is no possible way these men can claim they’re sane. ‘I’m in the looney bin,’ I whisper to no one
in particular.”’
“This
concoction of Jared’s can make the most unwilling and devout Puritan genuinely
beg anyone to release them from this yearning, even if the man was a
necrophiliac.”
“There’s
enough debauchery pervading my brain to make a whorehouse look like a convent.”
Book 2 Blyssful Lies
“It’s just
inevitable, a force of nature really, because there always has to be somebody
somewhere who is demented enough to thing their life is incomplete if they
don’t cause drama for others. Women like
this one thrive and feed off controversy as if they are starved piranhas.”
“Oh, God,
baby. It seems I’ve waited a lifetime
for this very moment.”
“With our
souls connected and intertwined, I feel as if this man completes me, like we’re
meant to be.”
“I’m done for;
I don’t think anyone will ever be able to affect me the way this man does on so
many different levels.”
“I can’t get
enough of you, of this, of us… I just can’t get enough,”
Book 3 Blyssfully Undone
“I wish I had
on spiked high heels right now, because I’d use them to jab her in the
eye. She really needs to wear a bib to
catch her drool.”
“My mind is
like a piece of unclaimed luggage, thoughts endlessly circling the same route
on a conveyor belt, taking the same path over and over again.”
“Sometimes his
hormones go all dysfunctional, and when they do, he’s worse than a houseful of
women PMSing with no chocolate.”
“Call it fate;
call it divine guidance; call it luck for all I care, but the bottom line is
our souls were born to be connected.”
“I’m met with
his stark green eyes, which silently speak to my soul. I can feel this magic between us, and it
never gets old.”
My Review:
With Book 1 Blyss - I
was a bit at sea as to what to think about the plot. I was intrigued and wanted to continue, but I
was also feeling conflicted. Jules is a
naïve, protected, and uptight rich girl has been abducted from her home by an
associate of her father. While held
prisoner, she is given an aphrodisiac drug that produces a sexual appetite she
doesn’t know what to do with, and is to be “trained” by Travis, a handsome and
smooth operator, who is gifted in his craft.
I can see what’s coming, although in my mind, she is still an unwilling captive
under duress and drugs, and while Travis may care for Jules and be the lesser
of two evils, he has and is still doing unspeaking things to her and many
others… so this seems more than a bit twisted.
Jules being an indulged, wealthy, and more than bit oppositional, furthers
her own dilemma by her noncompliance, open defiance, and tantrums, leading to
her further humiliation and total devastation.
But I am also fascinated by the
technology and creative elements of the story, such as the “Intelligent Johns.”
I am also enjoying the sprinkles of steam as she is being awakened to her
sensuality, as well as the use of humor, and of course anyone who esteems the Harry
Potter books as much as I do and has the nerve to make fun of steamy romance
books while writing a steamy romance book…well they just might be a
genius.
Blyssful Lies was quite an action-packed adventure with
lots of steamy bits to keep you gasping.
It started off rather dark with an unfortunate encounter with Nick that
had me cringing. Jules is finally allowed
to experience some fun and joy later on to balance out the pain, although she
doesn’t totally understand her circumstances.
I like having multiple POVs, yet I found myself a bit frustrated with
Jules.
Blyssfully
Undone brought a satisfying conclusion to this steamy and suspenseful trilogy
of 1008 pages. The writing throughout
the series was entertaining and easy to follow, which is surprising given all
the action, adventure, and emotional zig-zagging of the characters. We work our way through several interesting
plot twists, annoying and obstinate behaviors, and multiple temper tantrums
from several different characters, mental break-downs, shoot-outs, and several
abductions and narrow escapes; this poor gal is just truly cursed. In addition, there are loads of delicious erotic
sensual scenes that had me gasping, and welcome touches of humor and witty
banter to lighten things up.
