Lexie Palmer is a writer in search of the perfect story.
When a case of mistaken identity introduces her to the charismatic dominant, Garrett Hughes, she discovers her salvation. In hopes of penning an accurate portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle, Garrett agrees to educate Lexie.
She eagerly places herself in Garret’s capable hands, but what starts out as just business with the sexy Mr. Hughes takes a turn toward the unexpected.
Soon, Lexie becomes immersed in his world, and finds Garret taking control of her life. Her experiences with Garrett may be providing wonderful material for her book, but how far is she willing to go to for her story?
Lexie Palmer is about to get a lesson in submission that she will never forget.
“In an instant he had gone from hot guy to badly needed research guy. The funny part was the research side of the mad interested me more than the hot guy. I made a mental note to get my hormones checked.”
“Bondage, hot sex, men in leather… those were the kinds of things I had to put in my story. Considering the only leather I was familiar with either came in shoe, handbag, or coat form, I had a strange feeling I was in for a very difficult journey.”
“It was, after all, called the battle of the sexes. Unless there was a recent truce declared that I missed on CNN, I was pretty sure the war continued.”
“It took a little bit of effort to get the tight jeans down my hips. I think I looked more like a contractor hanging sheetrock than a woman trying to enticingly remove her clothing.”
“Covered with a red satin dress that amplified her round figure and a few red feathers protruding from her bright red hair, she resembled a dyed Easter chicken on steroids.”
What a surprisingly fun and entertaining read. It was titillating as well as humorous, but also insightful and clever. Smartly written and not as steamy as I was expecting, but textured just right. Artfully crafted, and well-paced. I was instantly sucked in and soon addicted. It was a quick read for the amount of pages as I couldn’t seem to leave it alone for long, and continued to think about it when otherwise occupied. It pokes fun at us romance readers, but in an honest way. My first Alexandrea Weis read, although I see she has a long list of naughty sounding titles to her credit.
