A Gentleman for Christmas
 an all-new standalone contemporary romance
by Prescott Lane

Some say “chivalry is dead.”
I don’t think so. Most women I know like a gentleman.
Protective, opens doors, treats women with respect, typically follows the rules.
But a gentleman doesn’t fall for his best friend’s woman. Current or ex.
And that’s what I’ve done.
During the Christmas season of all times — that magical time for decorations, gifts, family . . .
Yes, the girl who was off-limits for so long, who I’ve loved all my life, has come back in town and possibly back to me.
I can’t follow the gentleman rules this time. There’s too much at stake. I let her go once. I won’t let her go again.
What happens under the mistletoe, stays under the mistletoe.
Or does it?

Excerpt:

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.”

Otherwise known as the original bros before hoes commandment.

I’m not advocating calling women hoes. It’s an expression, so put away your Encyclopedia of Political Correctness.

There are rules in life. The Ten Commandments were just the beginning. We have rules for everything. How to drive. How to dress. How to walk across the damn street. So why not rules for love? That’s how all this started — a set of rules between my buddies and me.

The Bro Code.

Obviously, bros before hoes is rule one. We vowed never to let a girl come between us, which meant if one of us liked a girl, she was forever off limits.

Little did I know our teenage pact would launch my multi-million dollar career. A little tweaking here and some socially acceptable rewording there and The Gentleman’s Handbook was born.

I’ve written books and given seminars on everything from how to find love, to how to propose, to how to have a successful long-distance relationship. You name it, and I’ve got rules for it. Personally, I’ve never been much of a rule follower, but that’s my little secret.

The funny thing is I’ve never been in love. Well, there is this one girl, but we won’t talk about her. It does no good to think about someone you can’t have and never will.

My lack of emotional commitment hasn’t slowed down my career one bit. Currently, I have two books on the New York Times Best Sellers List. My seminars sell out like a Drake concert.

I always find it interesting that the rules started between a group of male friends, but it’s mostly women that come to hear me speak. Occasionally, you see the poor sap boyfriend who was dragged along to listen, but for the most part it’s all women.

This time of the year is no exception. December first until January first is important for guys. Holidays are big for a lot of couples. If you don’t know what you’re doing for your lady, you better figure it out and fast. In fact, my rule is that you should be paying attention all year long.

Trust me on this. If you remember something she mentioned she liked three months ago and surprise her with it at Christmas, she’ll spread her legs before Santa even has time to slide down the chimney. Let’s be honest, that is always at least part of the goal for guys.

So my current work in progress tackles Christmas. A how-to guide for the holidays.

The Gentleman’s Rules for Christmas.

Favorite Quotes:

I’m in trouble. She’s in “all men are assholes” mode. Threat level red. Someone should hoist the red flag up on the beach, warning hazardous conditions ahead.

The beach is wide, the water vast, the sky unending, and I’m reminded how small I am, like a single grain of sand… I look out toward the horizon, where the blue sky meets the blue water. Two shades of the same color. That’s the perfect way to think about Jax and me… Jax and I are the horizon, where he ends I begin, and vice versa.

I feel like I’m a kid in an expensive store, and I’m not supposed to touch… You’re worth too much.

“You were my first love,” I whisper but don’t make eye contact. He kneels, taking both my hands. His blue eyes look up at me, full of warmth. “I want to be your last,” he whispers back.

My Review:

Christmas came early for me this year and I’ve already enjoyed my gift from Prescott Lane.  I adored this well-paced holiday novella from start to finish.  Crisp and thoughtfully written in my favorite dual POV by one of my favorite authors, it covered all the bases as a friends to lovers, second chance, Christmas, and small-town romance.  Plus, it had all the feels, buckets of wry humor, and Kindle melting love scenes.  Nirvana!

"Hot single dad devoted to his daughter? Second chances? All the tension you could ask for? Look no further! Devoured this gem and you will too!"- Rachel Van Dyken, #1 New York Times bestselling author

All My Life, an all-new standalone contemporary romance by Prescott Lane is now LIVE!

The beginning of any love story starts with the meet.

I’ve known Garrett Hollis since before I can remember, and I’ve loved him just as long.  I loved him while he loved someone else. I loved him when he had a baby with her. I loved him when she left him.

The greatest of love stories is that between a dad and his daughter.  I should know. I’ve had a front-row seat. First steps, first words, all the big moments.

Garrett was just a teenager when Mia was born.  I’ve watched him braid his daughter’s hair, hold her hand crossing the street, seen her asleep on his chest.  I’m the best friend, the one they can count on for everything from dance lessons to motherly advice, anything they need.  I’m their go-to girl.

The best part of any love story is the happily ever after.

But what if the happily ever after doesn’t include you?

All my life, that’s how long I’ve loved him.

Of course, he’s clueless.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

Favorite Quotes:

Boys are always an emergency... Emergencies are unexpected and dangerous. I’d say that’s the definition of most boys.

Who decided the heart is the body part to represent love, anyway? Why is that? Because it beats faster when you’re with someone special? Well, my dick thumps, so maybe the penis should be on all the Valentine’s Day cards. We could serve chocolates in a penis shaped container! … Is it because you can’t live without your heart? I guess a man can live without his penis, but why would he want to?

I decide to hide out and bake. Carbs never disappoint, so I’m making a few hundred. Biscuits don’t judge me. Pastries don’t gossip, and never has a scone made me cry, so I figure I’m safe.

I get the feeling she wants to say more, but she doesn’t. A woman who has something to say but won’t is like a snake ready to strike. You know it’s coming, but there’s not a damn thing you can do to prepare.

My Review:

I loved this book from start to finish. This is the fourth book of the divinely talented Prescott Lane that I have read, and while each has been stellar, it is my completely unqualified opinion that All My Life is her best work yet. Brimming with clever and observant humor, poignant insights, heart-squeezing storytelling, and sizzling love scenes; this flawlessly written and well-crafted story was perfectly balanced and hit all the feels. I was captivated by the tale, totally enamored with the endearing and enticing characters, and well entertained by Ms. Lane’s clever style. It was Nirvana!

Excerpt:

As far as dates go, this one has been good.  I like her. She’s attractive, funny, smart, seems to have her head on straight.  All the boxes are checked. This should be the point where I kiss her, ask her out again.  I should be devising ways to get in this woman’s panties, but instead I’m thinking more about yanking down the tutu of one very sexy Biscuit Girl.  I should be thinking about how to get this woman to fall for me, but it’s me that’s fallen. I should have one thing on my mind, and I do — Devlyn.

There’s just one big ass problem.  She’s my friend. I can’t go there.  There are so many reasons why I can’t go there.  The town would have a field day. We’d have no privacy.  Everyone would have an opinion. If we broke up, where would I get a decent cup of coffee?  How would Mia react to this? Then there’s Scott, who’s actually the least of my concerns. Devlyn seemed pretty sure it was over, and if it’s not, I plan on convincing her.

I don’t want to lose Devlyn.

Staying friends guarantees her in my life.  Dating her doesn’t.

Love doesn’t come with a guarantee.

Love is a risk.  I used to be a risk taker, but teenage fatherhood buried that part of me.  Stability became the name of the game. It had to. I look towards her diner, wondering if she’s back.

Book Review: Toying With Her by Prescott Lane

SBPRBanner-TWH-BT.jpg

Toying with Her by Prescott Lane Release Date: August 17th Genre: Contemporary Romance

Toying with Her, an all-new standalone from Prescott Lane is available NOW!!!

toyingwithher

No one said finding love was easy, but when you invented the world’s best selling vibrator, it’s near impossible.  Yep, that’s right.  That little toy hidden in your bedside table is my brain child.  It’s aptly named Woman on Top.  And you know what they say . . . it’s lonely at the top.
So I’m headed home to my Southern roots.  It’s supposed to be an extended Summer vacation — nothing more.  But Rorke Weston has other plans for me.  Plans that not only involve me being on top, but also underneath him.
It’s been said you never forget your first.  For me, that’s definitely true.  No night has ever lived up to the one I spent with Rorke.
He’s turned into quite a man.  Tan from the Southern sun, and stubborn as the day is long.  And there’s nothing sweeter than the swipe of his tongue.
Rorke wants his chance.  The one we never had.  But that was a long time ago.  When I still believed in Prince Charming and Happily Ever Afters.  Even ten years later, I feel a pull.  And it’s not simply Rorke yanking down my panties.
Do second chances really happen?  Or is my heart simply toying with me?

Favorite Quotes:

Nestled along the shores of Mobile Bay, the pace here tends to be a little slower, the tea a little sweeter, and the sun a little hotter.

So no friends, no boyfriend, and no dates in almost three years, because men were either turned off by my profession or turned on for all the wrong reasons. I was feeling pretty desperate. And mansperate, too.

“Let’s make some babies.” Good God, he’s out of control. We went from one baby— singular— to babies— plural— in a nanosecond. “How about we just practice?

My Review:

Despite the book cover and the title, Toying With Her was not erotica, although several breath-stealing steamy scenes occurred as part of a long brewing and blossoming romance. I was engaged by Ms. Lane’s smartly written tale from beginning to end and adored her alluring characters, entertaining storyline, and especially the clever use of humor sprinkled throughout and tucked into amusing descriptions and colorful observations. The premise was relevant and her storyline and writing style was interesting and appealing. Written in my favorite dual POV, I enjoyed this couple and their second chance at romance and had a proud fist pump-moment for Sterling’s resourceful and clever use of strategy.

Rorke had been in love with Sterling since they were small children growing up in a small rural community in Alabama, although he had been too reserved and timid to ever express his deep feelings for her. They had been friends who had finally shared one special night before returning to their separate college plans and regretfully, never crossing paths other again over the following ten years.

I adored Rorke; he was insightful, patient, sexy, and sweet, although he also came with a side-orders of proud and stubborn. I cherished Sterling as a smart and successful businesswoman with sass and savvy. However, her well-deserved wealth and marked success caused unexpected difficulties for her private life, as well as complications for her parents who were still living in their narrowed-minded small-town community in Alabama. A much-needed summer vacation spent with her loving parents had been her plan. Although the little Southern homespun community was not exactly the same as she remembered.

Book Review: The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane

SBPR-TheSexBucketList-BT

The Sex Bucket List

by Prescott Lane

Release Date: March 9th

Genre: Contemporary Romance

SexBucketListCover

TheSexBucketListAN

I’m Emerson, and my “to do” list is longer than I’d like. You might wonder what kind of woman comes up with a sex bucket list? Answer — the kind who’s been in a sex drought, has two crazy girlfriends encouraging her, and one too many bottles of wine.

This kind of list requires special skill. And I have just the man in mind to help me. He’s younger. So that checks one thing off my list. And he’s the kind of man every woman should sleep with at least once in her life. The kind of man who knows his way around a woman’s body. And God, I’d like him to know mine.

Armed with new lingerie and a fancy high-tech vibrator, I’m taking charge. Of love, of life, and my libido. How hard can that be? Well, judging by the rate of pole dancing injuries, I might be in trouble.

But how much trouble can one woman get in? Giving your panties to a stranger isn’t illegal in Georgia, is it?

Grab a pen and make your own Sex Bucket List!

Favorite Quotes:

When we got married, I made sure to scratch out the obey part in the standard vows, and I know there wasn’t a part about promising to kill my soul, either.

Hard lesson to learn – not every woman can work a pole.  I dislocated my big toe.  Honestly, who dislocates a toe?  It hurt like a mother when the doctor popped it back into place.  At least my doctor was cute, but unfortunately, she was also a woman.

Some people call it sexting, but I think textual relations has a nice ring to it.  Either way, it’s good for the soul.

Wait!  You can’t drink when you breastfeed? … This pregnancy and baby thing keeps getting worse and worse.

There’s an art to loving someone.  And just like real art, it’s subjective.  One person’s way of showing love doesn’t work for everyone.  It’s delicate.  And just like real art, sometimes you mess up and have to start over.  Sometimes the piece can be saved, and sometimes it can’t.

My Review:

After only reading two of her books, I enthusiastically and unequivocally adore Prescott Lane and want to follow her around like a rabid fangirl.  I do believe I could read her work every day and never tire of her amusing word-craft.   Her humor is crisp and clever; her writing is witty, smart, observant, and keenly insightful; and her characters are endearingly flawed and knowable.  I quickly fell in love with Mateo; he was a god among men and the most perfect and patient of boyfriends.  More, please!

Book Review: The Reason For Me by Prescott Lane

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Holt

She likes it quick and dirty.

I like orders and rules.

She hates small talk.

I hate to share.

She’s an open book.

I’m a closed dresser drawer.

She rides a Harley.

And that drives me f’ing nuts.

Annalyse and I have both lived in our own personal hells for half a decade.  She’s learned to love the warmth, and I’m still consumed.  But my new neighbor is stoking more than my libido these days.  We agreed on only pleasure.  But she changed the rules.

And now I’m not even sure what they are.

Maybe there’s a reason she found me that night, maybe there’s a reason I can’t stop thinking about her, maybe there’s a reason for the pain.  Maybe not.

We all look for reasons in life.  Reasons for death, love, pain.  Why one thing happens and not another?  It’s human nature.  We’ve been looking for the meaning of life since the beginning of time.  But maybe the reason for all of it — life, love, loss, heartache — is the curvy brunette living next door.

TRFM.png

Holt

I can see the questions in her eyes.  Naked, I get on my knees in the bed, helping her up, her body pressing into mine, and lift her shirt over her head.  I can’t help but grin that she’s borrowed one of mine.  My hands slide down the curve of her waist and under the cotton of her panties, removing them.  Her hand softly strokes my cheek, and like an asshole, I jerk my head back, her soft touch doing damage to the hard defenses I’ve built.  How is that?  How can something so soft, so sweet, be my undoing?  And damn, the way she looks at me.  I can’t have her looking at me like that right now.  In one move, I flip her over and yank her ass in the air.

Her breath catches.  Dammit, sometimes I wish I could be one of those guys that only think about themselves during sex, but I’m not built that way.  Annalyse’s pleasure will always be more important than my own, and that’s just one small fucking step away from all her needs coming before my own.  It’s a slippery slope I’m on.

Using the tip of my cock, I outline her folds, feeling her open, drawing me in.  Running my finger down the curve of her back, her body rolls, her ass pushing against me.  She’s got the best ass, pure white, smooth skin, firm, but enough to hold onto.

“Holt,” she begs softly.

She’s very impatient when it comes to her orgasms.  That’s a great quality in a woman; she wants what she wants and doesn’t apologize for it.  As I slip myself inside her, she lets out a breathless moan.  It’s amazing how well I know her sounds, her body already.  Holding her hips, I slide in and out, slowly.  Grinning, I know she’s going to hate and love that at the same time.  She likes to come quickly.  It’s almost like she’s afraid there’s not enough time.  She starts to move faster, wanting me deeper, and harder.  And I’m powerless to resist her, incapable of not giving her exactly what she wants.

And when she screams out my name, I follow right behind her.  My body covers hers as we lay collapsed in our orgasmic hangover.  Moving her hair off her face, I look down at her closed eyes, missing seeing the way she looks when she comes.  “Every night,” I say quietly, “I want you in my bed, naked, waiting.”

She doesn’t open her eyes, but a little smirk crosses her lips.  “Orders, orders.”

Kissing her neck, I nibble her earlobe.  “Say you’ll be here.”  She rolls over, her eyes meeting mine for the first time.  A subtle guilt rises in my chest; I just fucked her to feel better, to forget.  And I want to do it again.

Favorite Quotes:

We've got bombs, guns, fists, all kinds of weapons of mass destruction, but there isn't a single thing that can destroy a man faster than a woman.  History is full of these examples going all the way back to the Bible, Adam and Eve... Hundreds of years of history and evolution, and I swear we haven't changed at all.

Judy is what Carla affectionately refers to as a 'gold star' lesbian, meaning she's never been with a man.

... it sounds like a prayer - a whispered wish you make in the dark when no one is listening.  The way he says my name is with such passion.  And for a man who wears a polite mask all the time, it's the most beautiful sound.

Is you bush whacked? ... You've got to take care of that situation... Holt's a gynecologist, so he's probably seen all kinds of out of control bush.  Take a cleaver to your beaver.

The worst thing about having a broken heart is that is keeps beating...

'Come on,' Carla says.  'Maybe we can turn you now!'  Judy swats her.  'Dicks are the devil.  Ever look at the devil's horns - two big red dicks coming out of his head.'

My Review:

The Reason For Me was my first experience reading this remarkable talent, and I am extremely annoyed at myself for being tardy.  I adored this book, it was witty, refreshing, heart-squeezing, angsty, intriguing, sexy, sweet, and funny as hell.  Written from my favorite dual POV of two smart and witty people who have found each other after suffering great loss and personal pain.  I was drawn to and cared deeply for most of the characters - they were clever, playful, good together, and endearingly flawed.  The story was consistently engaging, well-crafted, sexy, emotive, and seductively intriguing.  I was eaten up with curiosity concerning his dresser drawer and would never in a million years have guessed the correct response - it was ingenious!  Prescott Lane has made my list of favorites.  I want to stop time and read her every word.
