Book Review, Giveaway: Legacy Of Faithfulness by Deanndra Hall

Title: Legacy Of Faithfulness
Author: Deanndra Hall
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: June 4, 2018
Cover Designer: Buoni Amici Press

When no one is what they seem …
Annabeth and Katie Reynolds-Walters want another baby, but this time Annabeth wants to carry. That rules out the Walters men as sperm donors, and Katie’s father won’t even consider it. But Katie has an ace up her sleeve. Once she’s done enough digging, she discovers a brother from her father’s indiscretion with a neighbor woman. He’d be the perfect candidate.
At first, everything is fine. Katie is nervous about asking him to donate, but he’s not the least bit shy about asking to move into their house. His work on a super-supplement would go a lot faster that way, he reasons, with a stable environment. It isn’t long before he asks Katie if she’d like to be a test subject. After all, who couldn’t use more energy?
Annabeth has problems of her own. Clayton bought a new accounting software program, complete with a trainer, Christina, a blond bombshell with designs on Annabeth. Before long, Annabeth’s going a little too far with their friendship, and she knows it.
But the supplement isn’t a supplement, and Annabeth’s assertions that she’s a happily married woman fall on deaf ears with Christina. Annabeth and Katie are up to their necks in things they never dreamed they’d be dealing with. There’s a crisis brewing, and a fiery one at that.
Legacy of Freedom takes us back to the Walters of Louisville, Kentucky, the hottest Italian-American family you’ve ever met. Grab a copy today and hang on—it’s a wild ride!

…he had the finest ass in the country, one even a lesbian could appreciate.

Annabeth tipped the empty plate forward with a smirk. “Must’ve been horrible. I ate ‘em all so no one else would have to go through that torture.”

My Review:

I struggled with this angst-fest with much grimacing and sighing.  I was greatly disheartened and disappointed, as this installment just wasn’t working for me.  The beloved Walters clan and extended famiglia were imploding at a relentless pace from one end of the country to the other, and I did not like that, nope, not one bit.  The next generation of Walters was quickly tilting toward dysfunctional, running amok, coming unhinged, making moronically poor choices, and causing a dangerous and exasperating domino effect, as well as annoying me with their stupidity.  It fell to my favorite Italians (Tony and Vic) to deal with and cover up a steady stream of dysfunction and personal loss, while Tony was showing wear as he was beleaguered, embattled, and overwhelmed, yet he circled the wagons in his typical overly generous custom.  The themes of heavy angst, chaos, unending strife and constant conflict are agony to me, although my displeasure was further compounded when the story did not conclude but merely stopped.  The air quality suddenly took on a cerulean blue hue…

Be careful what you wish for. It just might kill you.

My Review:

I enjoyed this easy to follow and compelling paranormal mystery from beginning to end.  Carmen and Angelo D’Agostino were a young couple who had left their meddlesome family and friends thousands of miles across the country to strike out on their own adventure, only to find they had been scammed.  Their money was gone with nothing to show for it, no hope of recovery, and no home or business to run as well as limited possibilities in the small town they had moved to, although that old B&B looked promising and seemed fortuitously cheap.  Oops, it came with something extra, like restless and bitter spirits.  The storyline was intriguing, creative, and well-paced and packed with alluring and odd characters; and also gives new meaning to the phrase of getting the dirt on someone.  While this story could completely stand-alone, I look forward to diving into the other two books of this trilogy.
