Goodbye Caution (#1) Synopsis

Becca Campbell is a mother, friend, and widow to a war hero (may he rot in hell). She just wants to raise her daughter right and keep her bed-and-breakfast afloat in this economy. Her traumatic past leaves her with no desire for a relationship—until Grayson James walks through her door. He’s not the type of man you can easily say “no” to. Becca can’t quite understand the pull she feels toward him. But then his controlling nature starts to push her away—and into Ray McNeil’s comforting arms. Which is right where Ray has always wanted her.
Who will Becca choose?
Will she finally give in to her feelings for Ray, or continue the tumultuous relationship with Grayson? Only one thing is certain—either choice will mean saying goodbye to caution.

Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language and violence.

Goodbye Secrets (#2) Synopsis:

What if your life wasn’t exactly as you thought it was? What if there were secrets you kept—from yourself?
Becca Campbell has no idea her world is about to be turned upside down when she and Grayson return to New Hampshire.
Pieces start flying into place, answering the questions of the puzzle she calls her life. Things finally add up—it all makes sense. All that was lost is now found.

But will she be able to move forward, knowing the truth?

Goodbye Uncertainty (#3) Synopsis:

BECCA Campbell was lost for seven years, until an unexpected person from her past came back into her life and unveiled the truth.
This truth has set her free.
If only it were that easy.
Knowing what she now knows, Becca must come to grips with reality. She has to fight for the man she loves. The man she is meant to be with. Becca, very sure of her path, needs to get him to say goodbye to uncertainty.

What happens, though, when uncertainty with her is all he’s ever known?

Meet the Author:

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.

Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it's my characters and not "the voices" . . . that would be creepy.

What reviewers are saying

"This is a romantic suspense with lots of twists and turns in the plot. It is gripping and engaging and has your mind going heywire trying to get to the bottom of the mystery. As if that wasn't enough the chemistry between Ellie and Justin, the smoking hot Navy SEAL with an over-protective and possessive streak, is off the charts. This is a quick, really enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend it."

I've have met some amazing woman on my journey so far, and have learned so much. (Sometimes the hard way.) I've been like a sponge soaking up all the information I can on how the publishing world works. It's been a rollercoaster ride with its ups and its downs.

No matter what, I will never regret anything I've done. You can't succeed if you don't try, and if you don't try you won't succeed. One of my favorite quotes "If the dream is big enough the facts don't matter".
Some other info about me, I love my family, friends, wine and anything caffeinated. I also love writing HEA. For the same reason I won't watch a movie that I know will make me cry, (with the exception of Steel Magnolias) I will never write a book without a HEA. There might be a few twists and turns, a cliffhanger or two. But ultimately my stories will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. For me, reading is entertainment, a way to escape this crazy insane world. If a book leaves me feeling sad, mad or gut wrenched, it is not for me. There is enough gut-wrenching sadness in this world, I don't need to read about it too.

I started writing four years ago, and have no plans on stopping. So keep your eye on me because with the help of some amazing people and my wonderful fans, this girl is going to be on the New York Times bestselling list someday.

Excerpt

As I entered the door, I took a deep breath to try and still my out-of-control nerves. Smoke hung heavy in the air, stinging my eyes and causing me to cough. Several men in leather biker cuts lounged on stools at the bar, nursing beers. Across from me, a heated pool game was taking place.
I took a few steps inside and then froze. “Are you lost, darlin’?” a big busted woman in a halter top asked.
“Uh…I’m looking for David Malloy,” I said.
Two men at the pool table whirled around. The shorter of the two, a tough but cute looking blond, cocked his head curiously at me. But then the moment my gaze locked on the other man, I knew he was Willow’s father. They had the same dark hair, soulful dark eyes, and heart-shaped face. David, however, had dark scruff covering his face. Although he was Rev’s brother, I didn’t see any resemblance between the two. Although he was shorter and slightly less built, David was just as good-looking as Rev. “Mr. Malloy?” I questioned, as I closed the distance between us.
He tossed the pool stick on the table. Taking a long drag on his cigarette, he then stubbed it out in an ashtray on the table. “What do you want?” he demanded.
Without even glancing around the room, I knew that every eye in the place was on us. “I really need to speak with you for a moment.”
His dark eyes narrowed as they raked over my body. Then the next thing I knew, he leapt at me, knocking me back into the wall. One of his hands came to grip my throat while his body pinned me in place. Fear like I had never known overwhelmed me, sending my heartbeat drumming wildly in my ears. It was so loud it felt like a cannon blast going off around me. “Please,” I murmured.
David glared at me as his thumb pressed harder into my throat. “They’re really falling down on their job at the academy.”
“E-Excuse m-me?” I stammered.
With a smirk, he replied, “Don’t they train you ATF bitches to hide your fear a little better? I mean, you’re practically pissing your pants right now, not to mention your heart is beating ninety to nothing.”
I shook my head slowly back and forth as I tried processing his words. “ATF? I don’t understand.”
He rolled his eyes. “A white-bred piece of ass comes waltzing into my clubhouse wanting to talk to me alone. It doesn’t take a fucking genius to realize you’re a Fed.”
A Fed? It took me a moment to process what he meant. Holy shit, he thought I worked for the government as an agent of some sort. Quickly, I replied, “No, I’m not.”
A voice came from him. “Deacon, man, you’re gonna get your ass jacked up even further for this.”
Glancing over his shoulder, Deacon said to the young, blond haired man, “Stay out of this, Bishop.”
Bishop held up his hands. “Fine. It’s your fucking funeral.”
David’s hand slid down my throat to the buttons on my dress. Glancing over his shoulder at the others, he questioned, “What do you bet she’s wired up under her tits?”
When his hands started to rip open my dress, I couldn’t hold back my scream. “No, stop! I’m not who you think I am. I swear!” I protested.
“Then just who the hell are you?” he demanded.
Before I could answer, a tiny voice came from behind us. “Miss Alex?”
The sound of Willow’s voice caused David to release his hold on my dress, but his body still kept me pinned to the wall. At that same moment, Rev entered the clubhouse. When he saw me, his eyes bulged, and he broke into a run to reach us. Grabbing David’s shoulders, he slung him away from me. “For fuck’s sake, Deacon, what the hell are you doing?”
“I’m giving this undercover ATF bitch what she deserves,” Deacon spat, taking a step back toward me.
“Christ, she’s not ATF,” Rev countered.
“Oh, then who the hell is she?”
“She’s my teacher…and my friend,” Willow answered in a small voice.

A sweeping historical love story that hits all the marks." - Publishers Weekly (starred review)

Ireland 1846. The potato crop has failed for the second year in a row and Ireland is in famine. When Kathleen Deacey’s fiancé doesn’t return from a summer working in the Newfoundland fisheries, she faces a devastating choice—leave Ireland to find work or risk dying there. Despising the English for refusing to help Ireland, she crosses the Atlantic, determined to save her family and find her fiancé.

But her journey doesn’t go as planned and she ends up in America, forced to accept the help of an English whaling captain, Jack Montgomery, to survive. As Jack helps her search for her fiancé and fight to save her family and country, she must confront her own prejudices and make another devastating choice—remain loyal to her country or follow her heart.
A love story inspired by actual events, To Ride a White Horse is a historical saga of hope, loyalty, the strength of the human spirit, and the power of love.

Praise for To Ride a White Horse

Publishers Weekly starred review:  "A sweeping historical love story that hits all the marks ... Pacing the plot for maximum tension, Ford skillfully conveys the anguish and fury of not only her heroine, but all the struggling Irish both at home and abroad. She delivers genuine heat by teasing out the passion between her protagonists. Ford has made a deeply satisfying foray into new territory."

Goodreads First Reads Giveaway winner:  "Overwhelming! Six stars! What a stunning story! Pamela Ford’s book To Ride a White Horse made me go through a series of intense emotions, I cried, hoped, laughed! It’s a breathtaking story of love, hope and courage! I have just discovered a little gem!"

Top 500 Amazon Reviewer, Vine Voice:   "(4.5 stars) Good as this book is as a romance, it's even better as a historical novel. This is a touching story. Realistic, with some very gritty, some very poignant moments... This is an unexpectedly good novel."

My Rating:

Favorite Quotes:

“The rain had stopped before she boarded the ship and now the clouds were breaking apart, separated by great swaths of blue like God had spilled a bucket of paint and it was pouring down to Earth.”

“She stumbled down to the cabin and threw herself onto the sofa sobbing.  She wept for the death of a whale that wouldn’t abandon its calf.  She wept for her family, for Danny, for Ireland, for the injustice foisted upon the weak.  And she wept for herself, knowing that even as she despised the captain, she must still strike a bargain with him, must use him for her own ends just as he used the calf to catch its mother.”

“Sean knew the moment her spirit left her body, could feel it brush past him on its way beyond.  It was not cold as he had always heart, but enveloping, as though Moira had wrapped her arms around him one last time.”

“When you’ve never had much, you come to know what a difference just a little can make.  That what is most important is not things – but live itself.”

“’For bedding – not wedding,’ his grandfather said once she was gone.  ‘Make sure you know the difference.’”

My Review:

To Ride a White Horse is a considerable departure from my typical genre as I rarely read historical fiction, although I no longer remember exactly why I stopped doing so, as I thoroughly enjoyed every word of this book.  The premise of the story is a heavy one due to the dire living conditions forcing our protagonist (Kathleen) and many of her Irish countrymen to leave their homes in search of a better life a world away.  Despite the heavy subject matter, the story line was riveting, and the characters were fresh, well developed, and enticing, while the narrative was well paced, absorbing, and emotive.  Ms. Ford writes with magic ink that the faeries must have infused with their special dust.  Her words often squeezed my heart and occasionally brought a sting to my eyes.  I knew little about Irish history before picking up this missive, but now have a better understanding of their struggles without feeling as if I were studying or being lectured on the topic.  I like learning something while I am being entertained, and imagine, I still recall my mother’s admonitions during my formative years that reading fiction was a waste of time.  I was quite taken with the creative introduction of Kathleen’s rescue by the whaling ship – while coming to on the deck and in her delirium of believing herself dead, she fears she is entering hell when with her blurred vision, she witnesses the sweating and shirtless men working on a whale carcass and laboring over the fires for boiling the oil.  What genius!  I also enjoyed Kathleen’s steadfast beliefs and thoughts of the “Good People.”  I had forgotten about the Irish culture being more than a bit mystical with storytelling of faeries, banshees, and other such spirits.  This was my first time reading Ms. Ford’s work, but it won’t be the last, my one-click finger is feeling itchy.
